February greetings

I hope you have managed to enjoy the odd day of sunshine that we have had in the last couple of weeks. A group of us went along to the local Pantomime at All Saints Church Hall in January and we very much enjoyed it, so much so, that we want to go again next year. Thank you to Linda for organising the trip. She has also arranged two tours to the Old Bailey in February (and if you have never been you should sign up), and another member has organised a trip by train to St Albans for a tour of the Cathedral, which is well worth a visit.

Our Secretary, Sally is doing a great job in keeping us all updated on the National Federation of the WI and the Surrey Federation WI’s news and initiatives. Please read Sally’s emails on this as we do not intend to repeat all the detail of the information in the February meeting, to allow time for members to have a chat and cuppa before our Speaker Mary Forlenza, talks about Women who have improved the female status. This topic reminds me of the theme of our Christmas tree entry to the Christmas tree festival at St Mary’s Church in 2022, which was “Inspiring Women” and included many female pioneers in education, science, the arts, politics etc. It will be interesting to learn of Mary’s selections.

I hope to see you at the February meeting, including our new members who have recently joined. I’m looking forward to getting to know you.

Carol.
