Nearly Midsummer

We’ve had some lovely weather and I hope all you gardeners haven’t found the extra watering you are having to do, too onerous. As I stated in a previous post, if you are involved with one of our Groups, and have taken a good photos of an activity you took part in and would recommend to others, please send them to our web editors, Monica and Sheila H.

Our Secretary, Sally, continues to do a great job in keeping us all updated on the National Federation of the WI and the Surrey Federation WI’s news and initiatives. Please read Sally’s emails on this as we do not intend to repeat all the detail of the information in the WI meetings, to allow time for members to have a chat and cuppa before our Speaker.

Our May meeting was a good celebration of the 80th anniversary of VE Day with an entertaining Speaker on the history of the RAF at Biggin Hill. At our next meeting we have two speakers, one from Croydon Council on energy saving measures and another, an author who has visited us before, this time she will talk about a different book of hers and all the research involved.

I will not be here for the July meeting but Lee will be leading the meeting in my place. On 6 August we have our summer tea at Margaret’s garden and tickets at £4 will be on sale at the June and July meetings.

Best wishes, Carol.
