In addition to our monthly meetings we have a variety of smaller special interest groups. The contact details for these groups are in the Members area of this website.
Whilst we would normally have the following smaller groups, under the current regulations any meetings taking place are online, but we look forward to getting together again when permitted.
Art ‘n’ Craft Group
The Art ‘n’ Craft Group meets monthly in the Leader’s home, but times and days vary. We embrace art and craft in the widest sense- some doing painting, some knitting, sewing etc. We help each other and enjoy a good chat, tea and cake. We sometimes run a workshop on a theme. All members are welcome to join us.
The Book Club meets at a public house in Warlingham for discussion of the designated book followed by lunch together and meets on the last Thursday of the month. Any member is very welcome to join us.
The Canasta group meets monthly, but dates vary. We play Canasta in tables of three or four depending on numbers. It is a friendly group but we try our best to outwit our opponent! We also enjoy our tea and cake. Members are welcome to join us.
Costa Coffee Club
The Costa Coffee Club meets every Monday morning.
Facebook Group for Members
The link for the Sanderstead WI Facebook Group is in the “Members Only” section of the website.
International Lunch Club
The International Lunch Club meets on the 3rd Thursday of the month and visits international local restaurants and occasionally in London, taking advantage when we can, of `Lunchtime Specials`. We started with a visit to a Greek restaurant and since then we have `been round the world`. Recommendations and suggestions of venues are always welcome as are all members.
Scrabble for fun at the Horseshoe
We are a small friendly group who usually meet at a public house in Warlingham on the last Wednesday of the month.
We welcome new members.
There is usually a full and varied programme to places near and far. Over many years the skilled organiser has facilitated visits to most of the Royal Palaces, a ride on the Kent & Sussex Railway with tea and regular trips to London for a Christmas show and lunch at the Strand Palace Hotel
The Table Tennis group meets weekly on Wednesdays at a local church hall. We have some good competitive games and lots of fun and a bit of chat over a coffee or tea. For the past few years we have gone out for a Christmas lunch and at the end of term in July.
Members meet for a stroll, locally or in London, followed by a bite to eat on the 2nd Thursday of each month. Members should remember to wear stout shoes and carry waterproofs.
The Walkers Group
Members meet for a long walk on a Thursday of each month (to be confirmed). Members should remember to wear stout shoes and carry waterproofs.
This new Group for 2021 will be meeting at various times throughout the year to look after the rose bed in front of Sanderstead Library . The rose bed was originally planted in 1991 to celebrate our 70th anniversary and for our 100th year we are planning to rejuvenate this bed.
