100th Anniversary of Sanderstead WI
It was our 100th birthday in 2021 and we received this certificate of recognition from the NFWI on 15 March 2021. We will now be having a celebration next year for our 101st birthday. We are creating a commemorative tablecloth with the names of current members embroidered on it and we had a picnic celebration on the Gruffy in the summer 2021.
Opportunity to design a logo for Sanderstead WI.

Who says brooches have gone out of fashion?
We all enjoyed wearing our brooches at the meeting on 2nd March and many of us took the opportunity to buy some of the wonderful craft work for sale by fellow members, Part of the purchase price went towards our fund raising for a local charity, Rutherford School which we are continuing to raise funds for in 2022.
We also enjoyed a very informative and entertaining talk on the history of Croydon Airport, with some evocative historic photos and we now know the origin of the emergency procedure word Mayday, which was originally `m’aidez` meaning `help me` in French.
