Eight of us enjoyed a morning tour of the KSS Air Ambulance Charity at Redhill on 21 March 2024. The Air Ambulance Service serves a population of 4.8 million and a transient population of 90 million, an area of 19,096 square kilometres. The service costs £18.8 million per annum, £51,000 per day and relies heavily on donations. They answer approximately nine calls a day and operate 24/7. They also provide an aftercare service to families and those who have been helped by the KSS Air Ambulance Service.
We had an informative tour of the facilities, with three other WI groups and enjoyed meeting the Duty Manger, a Paramedic and the Community Fundraiser. There may be another tour in the autumn and if so, we thoroughly recommend it.The WIs who have attended the tour this year raised £800.
After the tour we went to the Priory Farm Garden Centre for lunch together.
